HRU's Todd Briggs spoke with the local news recently on why the Automotive Industry is using contractors, instead of hiring direct, as the industry slowly makes a come back out of the recession. This is something we are seeing beyond just the Automotive Industry, as the nation comes out of the most recent recession, companies in all industries are increasing their use of contingent labor. Currently in the U.S. the total workforce is slightly under 10% contingent, while the United Kingdom in many accounts are between 15-25% Contingent. The UK is usually ahead of the U.S. in labor trends, so we do see the U.S. contingent labor force growing significantly over the next decade.
Who could have seen this coming?! Not me, that's for sure. I do have friends who paint trucks for a living. However, they are not contractors. Maybe they should be. I will let them know of this story.

I do definitely see a trend of a lot of companies hiring contractors; it's more affordable for most companies plus they don't have to pay benefits. However, in this economy being a contractor is definitely better than being unemployed.

Dream is gorgeous when the fact is unmerciful. Sometimes fate is in we have hors , but we only can't alter it.
